Forces Virtual Experiment (P7H)
P7 Homework August 30th, 2007You are going to carry out an experiment to find out on which surface a sleigh will travel furthest. You are going to start the sleigh moving with a push. To make sure this is a fair test you will need to have the same size push and the same sleigh each time. You will work through the activity, following the tasks written (and spoken) at the top of the screen. Remember to record the distances travelled (or flags reached) on paper.
When you have completed the activity you can now submit a comment to the Blog explaining why the sleigh travelled further on a particular surface and why it did not travel as far on another surface.
If you are unsure of anything either ask your teacher or leave a comment on the blog. Sleigh ExperimentAll answers are to be posted by Thursday 13th September.P.S. Your comments/posts will only be shown on Friday 7th September. i.e after the due date.

i think the ice is the best
September 11th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
the ice works best with a small push and a big the carpet has high friction the wood is med friction and the vinyl is med friction so the ice has the lowes friction
September 11th, 2007 at 4:26 pm
I think that ice is the best
because the sleigh moved
fastest and furthest on the ice.
September 11th, 2007 at 5:26 pm
Ice is the best because
it is slippery and slidy.
September 11th, 2007 at 5:29 pm
Ice has less friction
than all the other surfases.
September 11th, 2007 at 7:01 pm
The sleigh moves the quickest on the ice because the ice has less friction.
The sleigh moves slowest on carpet because it has more friction.

Small push yellow light
Vinyl- The sleigh to the sencond flag
Wood- The sleigh went to first flag
Carpet- The sleigh didn’t reach any flag
Ice- The sleigh went to the third flag
Big push red flag
Vinyl- The sleigh went to the third flag
Wood- The sleigh went to the second flag
Carpet- The sleigh went to the first flag
Ice- The sleigh wemt past all the flags and out of the screen

i think a sleigh slides the furthest when on ice because ice is slidy and it has less friction. On a carpet a sleigh hardly slides.
September 11th, 2007 at 8:38 pm
Ice has less friction because
it is slippery and slidy.
Carpet has the most friction.
September 12th, 2007 at 2:50 pm
I think that ice will goe the furthest because ice is slipy and it has more airesistance.Ice has less friction.
September 12th, 2007 at 2:58 pm
Ice has the less friction because it is slippy.Vinly is second.Third is wood. And carpet has the most friction.
September 12th, 2007 at 4:41 pm
The ice is the best because there is a lot less friction.
September 12th, 2007 at 5:55 pm
I hink ice is best because it has less friction therefore it glides across the surface . The ice has the lowest friction and carpet has the highest friction as it only moved a tiny bit .
September 12th, 2007 at 6:01 pm
I found that they all worked the same.
September 12th, 2007 at 6:04 pm
I also think when you pull the sleigh back to the red light every one of them went faster.
September 12th, 2007 at 7:00 pm
I think ice makes the sleigh go the furthest because it is the most slippery and slidy
September 12th, 2007 at 7:01 pm
I think ice makes the sleigh go the furthest because it is the most slippery and slidy!!

I think ice makes the sleigh go the furthest because it is the most slippery and slidy!!!
September 13th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
I think on the ice the sleigh moves better and quicker because it is a more slippery surface.
September 13th, 2007 at 3:14 pm
ice has the less friction because it is slipper and slidy and can go faster.
September 13th, 2007 at 3:17 pm
I think the sleigh moves faster on the ice because it is slippery and quickest.

When i flickered through all the surfaces (before i had done anything) i thought that ice would be the best because it is very slippery and slidy and has not a lot of friction. But then when i tried the Vinyl i thought that was the best, but then i tried the ice and realized that the ice was the best.

I think that the ice is the best surface because it slipped and slid the most and has the least friction soit wouldn’t stick to the ice.
September 13th, 2007 at 4:10 pm
i think ice will be the best because it has the less friction, vinyl and wood has medium and carpet has the most.
September 13th, 2007 at 4:53 pm
ice is the fastest it is because slippy and has no friction.
September 13th, 2007 at 4:54 pm
ICE IS DEFINATELY THE BEST BECAUSE IT IS THE MOST SLIPPIEST AND A CARPET THE WORST AS IT IS VERY GRIPPY.
September 13th, 2007 at 5:00 pm
I think ice is the best because it is slidy & slippy.
September 13th, 2007 at 5:08 pm
I think ice has the least friction because it has no grip
and it is really sliddy
September 13th, 2007 at 5:13 pm
I think the ice was the best because it went farthest and it was smoothest sarfest and itwas much better than carpet, wood and viny aswell.
September 13th, 2007 at 5:24 pm
I think the ice was the best and it went farthest and it was better than the carpet, wood and viny.
September 13th, 2007 at 5:44 pm
the ice has the lowest friction a big and small push the carpet is the worst cause a big push make it go by inches
September 13th, 2007 at 6:05 pm
Ice is the best because it has less friction
September 13th, 2007 at 6:44 pm
carpet has most friction and it gos slowest compared to ice wich has less friction because it is slipery and made of cold water
September 13th, 2007 at 8:43 pm
car has very short way on the carpet, longer way on the wood, than on the vinyl and the longest way on ice
September 14th, 2007 at 6:17 am
ice went the furthest and the fastest because ice has less friction and carpet was the slowest because it has most friction.
September 14th, 2007 at 1:20 pm
i thought the ice was better beacause it was more slidey
